The NCRA/ANREC is conducting a by-election to fill two vacant board seats not filled at NCRC. Member stations are encouraged to nominate a programmer, volunteer, or staff member. The seats are for 2-year board terms, and will expire at the 2021 AGM. We particularly encourage members in the Atlantic provinces, the North, and Quebec to field candidates. [Click for more]
We are thrilled that as part of our grant from Employment and Social Development Canada we received a grant. A key part of our grant is $50,000 available for stations to improve the physical accessibility of their stations.
We are making available grants of $500 to $8,000 for you to improve accessibility.
On behalf of the NCRA/ANREC board of directors I would like to invite you to attend the 2019 Annual General Meeting, to be held on Wed, June 5, from 1:00 pm to 3:30pm at Ryerson University (room to be announced) as well as online using the AGMeeting app.
Members will vote on a 2021 conference host at this year’s AGM. If your station would like to host the conference please check out this document or call staff for more information. Your station must submit an expression of interest to the NCRA/ANREC Executive Director Barry Rooke (barry@ncra.ca) by May 15th, 2019 and staff will work with you to make sure your application meets the requirements of hosting the conference before presenting it to membership.
We wanted to let you all know that there are only 15 early-bird tickets left for the NCRC38 happening in Toronto. Once they are gone, only the full-price tickets will be available. We are also excited to announce that we have confirmed our second keynote for the NCRC taking place on Thursday.

-April 3, 2019- Campus radio stations across Ontario have issued urgent appeals for student and community support in response to the Ford government’s “Student Choice Initiative,” which will decimate student funding for campus activities and result in less choice for students. More than 3,000 Ontarians have already responded by signing petitions supporting campus radio as an essential community service and urging the government to reconsider its position. [Click for more]
We wanted to share with you some important updates for the National Community Radio Conference that is scheduled for June 4th, 5th, and 6th at Ryerson University. The NCRC38 is being co-hosted by the incredible team over at CJRU-AM. We have the Welcome party on the evening of the 3rd, and don't miss the Gala and the awards ceremony!
-March 5, 2019- Campus radio stations and newspapers may have to shut off the radio and turn off the printing presses if Ford’s proposal to change student funding goes ahead without amendment.
Campus radio stations across Ontario have jointly issued an urgent appeal after the release last month of the provincial Conservative policy to decimate student funding for campus activities. We are very pleased to announce that the early bird registration for the National Community Radio Conference in 2019 is now open! The conference will be taking place in Toronto at Ryerson University, June 4th, 5th and 6th. We are being co-hosted by the incredible team at CJRU 1280 AM. Don't forget that we will have a welcome party on the 3rd, and there will be a rally against the Ontario Student Choice Initiative on the 3rd or 7th (The Choice Initiative will likely make all ON campus station levies opt-in)
