We are very pleased to announce that the early bird registration for the National Community Radio Conference in 2019 is now open! The conference will be taking place in Toronto at Ryerson University, June 4th, 5th and 6th. We are being co-hosted by the incredible team at CJRU 1280 AM. Don't forget that we will have a welcome party on the 3rd, and there will be a rally against the Ontario Student Choice Initiative on the 3rd or 7th (The Choice Initiative will likely make all ON campus station levies opt-in) In addition to the early bird registration being up we have some other great announcements! We have confirmed our first Keynote! We will be joined by Dr Mark Campbell talking about the Future of Radio. You can learn more about him here: https://www.ryersonrta.ca/people/dr-mark-campbell We confirmed a Carbon Neutral sponsor for the conference! We are excited that Palmorex will be supporting us in offsetting the carbon footprint of the conference. You can also catch them at a session on Alert Ready: Canadian Emergency Broadcast. We also secured sponsorship from OASIS for our Rest Lounge, and CWA-Canada is supporting our Media Mixer. In addition we've had support from the BBC World Service, they will be on-site with a presentation on the BBC World Service as well as their Partner Production Hub program. The NCRA/ANREC will be providing some travel funding to people within the central region for travel to the NCRC38. These funds have been made available by the Community Radio Fund of Canada. We are also in the final stages of confirming a panel on the responsible promotion of marijuana, festival collaboration, local news development, change management and more! Email luke@ncra.ca if you have a session idea! COMING SOON: The NCRA/ANREC & The Scope will soon be releasing a downloadable app for the conference which will allow you to create your own schedule, chat with other delegates, ask questions and more. In addition, we will be releasing the accommodations and the application form for travel funding. The NCRA/ANREC and CJRU-AM predict that NCRC38 is going to be one of the biggest community radio conferences we've had. We are expecting over 40 different sessions with experts from across Toronto, and Canada at large. This is an incredible opportunity for you to meet with colleagues from across Canada and further develop the skills needed in community radio.
