PARTNER PROGRAM
Boom Box: World Radio Day
Co-hosted by the Canadian Commissioner for UNESCO
..
Farm Radio International is pleased to announce its inaugural UNESCO World Radio Day webcast event on February 13, 2016 at McMillan agency, 541 Sussex Drive in the heart of Canada’s historical Byward Market. Bringing together some of the nation’s top radio and podcast voices, we will celebrate, discuss and debate how radio is changing and how radio has become an engine for social change. CBC’s Piya Chattopadhyay will moderate an insightful discussion between panelists:
Nora Young (CBC Host, Spark), Katie
Jensen (Podcast Producer, CANADALAND) and Farm
Radio International Executive Director Kevin Perkins.
The webcast will also feature Shad (CBC Host, Q), Nick van der Kolk (Podcast Host, Radiotopia’s Love+ Radio) and several African radio broadcasters about how radio can profoundly change lives. Guests and listeners will be encouraged to interact with the panel and take part in the webcast online and in person.
We are proudly partnering with Ottawa’s independent radio station CHUO 89.1 FM to air the live broadcast and the National Campus and Community Radio Association for the re-broadcast, which will reach community and campus stations across Canada. Farm Radio International is a Canadian charity that harnesses the power of radio to meet the needs of small-scale farmers. We work with more than 600 radio partners located in 38 African countries to fight poverty and food insecurity.
