Accessibility Grant Available for NCRA/ANREC Members!

Hello NCRA/ANREC Members

We are thrilled that as part of our grant from Employment and Social Development Canada we received a grant. A key part of our grant is $50,000 available for stations to improve the physical accessibility of their stations.

We are making available grants of $500 to $8,000 for you to improve accessibility.

I've attached the Guidelines and the Accessibility Audit to this email.

The grant has some requirements, we require that you complete an accessibility audit of your station to identify where best to improve accessibility. We require that you engage with someone with lived experience of a disability in developing the application to ensure that it reflects the needs of your community. In addition, we require that stations provide 25% of the value of the grant in in-kind, or cash. For example, a $10,000 upgrade for an accessible ramp, would equal to $7500 from the NCRA/ANREC, and $2500 from the station. Finally, we require the broadcast of at least 1 PSA to raise awareness.

These criteria were developed in part through obligations to the larger grant, and through consultation with our Accessibility Committee. A committee of individuals with lived experience as, or working with folks living with a disability.

The deadline to apply is June 2nd, however, if there are funds available after the first round of applications, we may re-open the application for a second pool of applicants. The funding decisions will be made, and folks who have applied by June 2nd will be notified by June 17th.

We are looking forward to your applications!
