August 31st, 2020, Ottawa (Ontario) – The Minister of Canadian Heritage announced in May details of the $500 million COVID-19 Emergency Support Fund for Cultural, Heritage and Sport Organizations directly supporting community broadcasting. July 13th, 2020 – Today, the National Campus and Community Radio Association (NCRA/ANREC) and 30+ radio stations have committed over $480,000 to support local businesses in the economic recovery. From coast to coast, in small towns to major cities including Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal stations have stepped in to offer grants of free advertising and promotion, or steep discounts to help local businesses ReStart and recover.

Several provinces have declared radio as an essential service. In many communities, their local radio station is a reliable and constant connection to their community and local updates for COVID-19. Community Radio has shown incredible resilience and perseverance in the past weeks. We want to thank stations, their volunteers and communities for making this possible.
