The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the management of all
volunteers at CKCU, including recruitment, orientation, training, and
support. The Volunteer Coordinator will also coordinate and encourage
volunteer presence at station and community related functions. As
well, they will expand volunteer participation opportunities. The
Volunteer Coordinator will report to the Station Manager.
The Volunteer Coordinator will be expected to:
Act as a liaison and voice between the volunteers and station staff
Recruit new volunteers for all areas of station activity through new
volunteer sessions and other outlets
Coordinate and conduct new volunteer orientation sessions on a regular basis
Engage the student population by providing information on volunteer
opportunities and
encourage their participation
Maintain regular contact with CKCU volunteers about participation
opportunities, events, and other matters via person to person contact,
email, social media and website
Maintain organized and up to date records of volunteer information
Assist in providing training to volunteers in administrative areas,
music library
instruction and other realms when required
Organize and facilitate training and workshops in conjunction with
other staff members
Plan and execute volunteer appreciation functions
Assist in finding community events, or organizing CKCU hosted
events, which are of
interest to the station and offer volunteer participation opportunities
Complete on-air training to assist with programming when required
Strong interpersonal and communications skills, an appreciation and
understanding of diversity, as well as experience working with
volunteers are essential to this position. Experience in effectively
training individuals is also required. Event planning and community
radio experience will be considered an asset.
