CHRY Community Radio has been a part of the Toronto - North York community for over 23 years. CHRY is an organization committed to anti-oppression which strives to provide a voice to marginalized groups in our society. As a member station of the National Campus/Community Radio Association, we are committed to providing alternative radio to an audience that is recognized as being diverse in ethnicity, culture, gender, sexual orientation, age and physical and mental ability.

We’re looking for a dynamic, dedicated, energetic individual who can take on the position of Volunteer Coordinator.

Responsibilities:
~ Design and implement strategies for recruiting new volunteers
~ Maintain a database of volunteer information e.g. progress, achievements
~ Work with staff to develop and revise volunteer job descriptions
~ Liaise with student and community groups to recruit a diverse group of volunteers
~ Work with station staff to prepare and conduct monthly general orientation sessions
~ Liaise with student and community groups regarding CHRY events, activities and
volunteer opportunities
~ Work with staff and volunteers to promote CHRY around campus and the community
~ Liaise with student groups and organizations for people with disabilities
~ Work with staff to develop orientations and training sessions for staff and volunteers on disability issues.
~ Work with staff and volunteers to develop and organize volunteer recognition initiatives
~ Work with staff and volunteers to develop and organize fundraising initiatives

Qualifications: 

Applicants should possess the following:
1. Familiarity with campus/community radio
2. A knowledge of CHRY’s listening community
3. Strong research and communication skills
4. Familiarity with database software, especially Filemaker Pro Version 4, 5 or 6 and
Microsoft Office
5. Ability to organize, coordinate and promote fundraising events
6. Ability to work in a collective atmosphere
7. Enthusiasm
8. Stamina

Applicants Must also Possess the following:
1. Strong organizational skills
2. Experience working in a volunteer-driven environment
3. Ability to work with and train volunteers from diverse backgrounds
4. Ability to work with and train volunteers within an anti-oppressive framework
5. Exceptional communication, presentation & outreach skills
6. Ability to work independently
7. Ability to work to tight deadlines

Salary: 

Remuneration: app. $16.00 per hour or app. $18,500 per annum (@24 hours per week)
