Student Media/University of Windsor – CJAM 99.1 FM – is hiring for the position of VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR. The part-time position is 20 hours per week.

CJAM is a nonprofit volunteer-driven campus-based community radio station. We provide music and information programming not offered by mainstream commercial media in the Windsor/Detroit area. We serve people and groups within the community who are under represented or maligned by mainstream media by providing a forum to express their views.

General Description: CJAM Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the orientation, training, support and recruitment of all volunteers at CJAM. The Volunteer Coordinator will also coordinate volunteer presence at campus and community events.

Duties include:

· Coordinate orientation session and station tours for all new CJAM applicants
· Maintain up-to-date orientation and training materials
· Schedule and arrange policy and technical training of all personnel
· Recruit volunteers for all areas of the station
· Screening and coordination of volunteer placement in consultation with fellow CJAM staff/management
· Maintain an updated record of names, phone numbers and email addresses of all active volunteers
· Work in conjunction with the Programming Department to add new volunteers to any programming related committees so that they may be contacted when fill-in shifts become available
· Build partnerships with groups on campus and within the larger community to foster continuity, relevance and quality in programming
· Assist the Program Director in coordinating and scheduling use of CJAM production studios
· Assist in the planning and execution of Volunteer Appreciation events (Jammy Awards, CJAM BBQ, CJAM Holiday party)
· Coordinate Volunteer Committees
· Coordinate CJAM volunteer presence at campus and community events
· Work together with staff to promote CJAM programming and volunteer opportunities

Qualifications: 

· Excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills
· Demonstrated experience and knowledge relating to non-commercial radio
· Experience in journalism and new media
· Strong organizational and time management skills
· Conflict resolution and management skills
· Computer and basic radio/audio production skills
· Friendly and patient disposition
· Management or Volunteer coordination experience a plus

Salary: 

TERMS: 20 hours per week.
SALARY: $15,000 per year.
