Description: 

CJSW Radio – University of Calgary Student Radio Society, one of
Canada's most established and respected campus/community radio
stations, is looking for a new Volunteer and Office Coordinator.

The CJSW Volunteer and Office Coordinator is the information
distribution hub of the radio station. This position is often the
first person a new volunteer meets and is the one most CJSW members
see on a regular basis. Greeting, learning who is interested in
helping out where and directing them in the right direction is
paramount to CJSW’s image and in retaining volunteers.
Here is an outline of the tasks and responsibilities of this
important position:

- Recruit, train, and retain CJSW volunteers. Create and manage
innovative systems to accomplish these goals. Working closely with
the Training Director to implement these systems.

- Recognizing potential on-air/production, spoken word, and music
department volunteers interested in these various areas and
introducing them to the appropriate staff member and/or Executive
coordinator.

- Assist Program Director in organizing on-air and on-line
announcements, specialty programming days, and researching new
opportunities for on-air programming (new multi-cultural shows,
interviews, etc.).

- Organize special events such as fundraising events, student
awareness days, community outreach events, etc. in conjunction with
staff and Promotions Coordinator.

- Work closely with the CJSW executive, providing motivation and the
means to accomplish goals within their individual portfolios.

- Design CJSW promotional materials - brochures, program guides,
information packages.

- Coordinating volunteers to help with the operation of the station
such as marketing and promotion of the station, helping out with
special projects and general day-to-day tasks.

- Work with the Station Manager to help prepare grant applications
(big and small), coordinate sponsorships, plan and coordinate Funding
Drive over the course of the year and other outreach projects such as
organizing listener-recruitment campaigns.

Qualifications: 

Successful candidates will have strong on-line and design/layout
skills and some production and on-air experience. They will be an
excellent communicator, be well organized and have a strong ability
to work on a multitude of projects at once. We are looking for
someone who has a good understanding and appreciation of all aspects
of campus/community radio. Experience supervising or actively working
in a volunteer environment and the ability to work on a multitude of
