CKDU is Hiring a Summer Events and Programming Coordinator!
CKDU FM is the non-profit community-based campus station at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. CKDU is mandated to provide an alternative to private and public broadcasters, providing a forum for diverse and under-represented voices, music and news. The station broadcasts within the HRM 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and is run by more than 200 volunteers.
Nature of the Job
The Summer Events and Programming Coordinator will work with the support of the CKDU staff collective to plan and implement the Concert on the Other Hill Festival and the legendary Boat Party. The student will also assist with summer programming and scheduling, and work towards fall recruitment and events. The coordinator will have the opportunity to develop skills in radio broadcasting, community outreach and events and programming coordination.
Candidates should have strong organizational and communication skills. Other assets include working with a non-profit organization, event and programing coordination, and coordinating volunteers. Although it is not a requirement for the position, applicants are encouraged to note any experience working with community or audio projects, or community radio. The candidate must be able to work independently and be goal oriented. Candidates are encouraged to familiarize themselves with CKDU FM's mandate.
This is a 10 week, $3612 summer contract made possible by the HRSDC Canada Summer Jobs Program for Students.
