Description: 

Radio Western is seeking a Station Manager on a full-time basis to commence on June 1, 2017. The

Station Manager, Radio Western will be responsible for providing general administrative support and

supervision to Radio Western employees and volunteers. The Station Manager, under the authority of the

Board of Directors, will develop organizational frameworks, fundraising and alternative sources of

funding for Radio Western. The Station Manager will be responsible for the preparation of financial

documents and other operational duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.

The Station Manager will focus on three special projects:

1. Fundraising and alternative sources of funding: develop a strategic funding plan for Radio Western

2. Strengthening the relationship with the University Students’ Council: create and maintain a

dynamic relationship with the University Students’ Council at Western University

3. Framework development: responsible for developing metrics and feedback systems for the

operations of Radio Western, including student engagement and employee performance

The successful candidate will also be responsible for:

1. Board and Governance: will provide the Board of Directors with advice and support in the

development of policy and matters related to the management of Radio Western such as strategy,

risk management, focused outcomes and quality assurance

2. Leadership and Supervision: support and develop employees and volunteers by ensuring the work

environment is inclusive and the space is maintained

3. Corporate and Financial Resources: oversee the operational and administrative duties, preparation

of financial documents and CRTC regulations

4. Other responsibilities: as assigned by the Board of Directors

Qualifications: 

The ideal candidate will exhibit a passion for radio and experience advocating, collaborating and

managing a team of passionate individuals. The individual should possess the flexibility, emotional

intelligence and strategic skillset to be successful within this position. The successful candidate will have

a minimum of five years’ experience and a post-secondary degree. Experience working with non-profits

organizations, students and the media would be an asset.

Salary: 

Normal hours of work are from Monday to Friday; however the Station Manager will be required to be

flexible to work nights and weekends for the smooth operation of Radio Western’s 24/7 programming.
