CIVL Radio is a non-profit campus and community radio station located at the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford, BC. CIVL Radio's mission is to serve the student and staff of UFV, as well as the surrounding communities, through radio and internet broadcasting. CIVL Radio operates primarily through the hard work of volunteers who host and produce their own programs. Since March of 2008, CIVL Radio has been offering homegrown and diverse programming for the communities of UFV and the Fraser Valley. Currently, CIVL Radio broadcasts online at www.civl.ca, but will be broadcasting at 101.7 FM by September.

CIVL Radio is hiring a full-time Station Manager. The position will commence August 16, 2010.

The Station Manager is responsible for the daily operations of CIVL Radio, including the supervision of the station's paid employees. He or she will be responsible for the supervision and mentoring of CIVL's volunteers, and will promote a volunteer environment that will create a positive and rewarding experience for everyone involved. He or she is also responsible for communication between CIVL Radio and the CRTC, SOCAN, other regulatory agencies and other campus and community radio stations.

The Station Manager reports to the CIVL Radio Board of Directors. It is expected that the or she will attend all Board meetings to provide a report on the station's operations, and to deliver any staff or committee reports when requested. The Station Manager must work in accordance with the UFV Campus and Community Radio Society constitution, and must keep up-to-date with all policies which affect CIVL Radio.

Qualifications: 

The ideal candidate will have prior radio programming experience, preferably with a campus or community radio station. He or she must also have experience working with non-profit society, including committee and board experience. He or she must have excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills. Candidates should have experience in fundraising, budget management, and volunteer management.
