CFRC Radio 101.9FM is the longest-running campus broadcaster in the world, with a long-standing history at Queen's and in Kingston. CFRC broadcasts a wide variety of programming and provides learning opportunities to students and community members in fulfillment of the station's mandate. CFRC broadcasts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a
small staff team and more than 250 volunteers.
The following management position is currently available at CFRC:
Programming Manager (12 month contract)
Time Commitment, Eligibility and Remuneration
Upon being hired, all incoming full-time staff are required to fulfill a minimum of 20 hours
of on-the-job transitioning in April 2013
Incoming full-time employees will receive some remuneration for this transition period
12-month term from May 1 2013-April 30 2014 with a time commitment of 30 hours/week
Responsibilities
Maintain a 24‐hour, quality programming schedule in accordance with CRTC
regulations for community‐based campus stations
Learn about and adhere to CRTC license and SOCAN policies
Maintain a physical copy of the CFRC broadcast schedule and an electronic version to
be displayed on the CFRC website
Continually identify new areas for greater diversity in programming content at CFRC
Supervise, support, coordinate, and provide feedback for all CFRC programmers
Coordinate training for new and older volunteers in broadcasting techniques, CFRC
policies, and CRTC regulations
Maintain a current and complete CFRC member database and volunteer email list serve
and effectively communicate with all volunteers
Supervise and discipline staff or volunteers when necessary while ensuring a positive
working environment
Maintain effective and regular communication with CFRC's Business Manager, Music
Resources Manager, Operations Officer, CFRC support staff, and the Radio Queen's
University Board of Directors
Coordinate production of commissioned projects from the University and other Kingston
organizations (podcasts, CBC interviews, documentaries etc.)
Identify opportunities for the promotion of CFRC on campus and in the greater Kingston
community.
Work with other CFRC staff to coordinate and implement CFRC outreach and
promotional events on and off-campus; to ensure the effective day-to-day functioning of
the radio station; and to develop and follow a budget and strategic plan.
Complete a thorough transition process with the next incoming manager that includes
one‐on‐one meetings and a transition manual.
Set and maintain consistent office hours throughout the year.
This position is open to any Queen's student who has been enrolled at the University
over the past twelve (12) months.
The salary for this position is approximately $17,500
