About Radio CKUT
CKUT 90.3FM is a not-for-profit campus-based community radio station in Montreal. As a campus/community radio station, CKUT’s mandate is to provide an essential service to those in the Montreal community whose needs are not met by mainstream commercial radio. CKUT functions not only as an alternative to the status quo, but as a viable community resource. CKUT serves as a training ground for the community and student populations, and in doing so, provides an essential educational and informational service to the greater Montreal community.
ABOUT THE POSITION
The Production Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of technical activities at CKUT. The candidate should have professional knowledge and/or experience using digital recording interfaces and advanced capabilities with Digital Audio Workstations to record, edit and produce audio.
Duties include maintenance and repair of audio equipment, overseeing the production department budget, producing advertisements and promos, training volunteers, scheduling production work, coordinating production for special projects including CKUT’s annual Funding Drive and remote broadcasts, maintaining and developing technical manuals, and maintaining production files.
The Production Coordinator monitors the quality of CKUT’s broadcast signal through contact with transmitter technicians and ensures that all communications from government regulators concerning the station’s signal are dealt with thoroughly.
CKUT is a collectively managed organization requiring staff to work closely with one another as well as station volunteers to manage the station. All staff play a direct role in managing the day to day operations of the station and in building a vision of the organization’s future. The Production Coordinator is expected to take part in weekly meetings and share station management tasks.
TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Regular maintenance and upkeep of the production studios and on-air studios. Working with a diversity of clients to record and prepare on-air advertisements. Maintenance and repair of audio equipment. Preparing equipment and technical support for remote broadcasts. Preparing equipment and technical support for special events. Training volunteers in audio production skills. Preparing special on-air promos for the Funding Drive. Participate in weekly collective management meetings. Overseeing the Production department budget.
Rapid and efficient troubleshooting skills with audio equipment. Strong knowledge and experience with multi-track digital editing software. Knowledge of common problems and solutions in the field of sound recording. Understanding of conventional audio level measurements and standards. Proficiency in both Mac and Windows PC environments. Highly organized, reliable and capable of working in a busy environment. Ability to multi-task efficiently and work independently. Interest or experience in the repair of audio equipment.

Radio CKUT is currently seeking a Production Coordinator. This is a part-time position (25hours/week.) Annual Salary: $20,400 ($15.70/hr)
