
HIRING: NEWS COORDINATOR (QUEEN'S WORK-STUDY)
CFRC is hiring a News Coordinator to facilitate local news coverage. This position runs from September 22 to May 1, with a time commitment of 5 hours per week at a wage of $12 per hour.
Responsibilities include:
-Recruiting, training, motivating and mentoring volunteers and community members to enhance their skills in news production
-Coordinating weekly meetings of CFRC's volunteer news collective -Working with the volunteer news collective to produce timely news programming content each week
-Monitoring email accounts and phone messages, acting on relevant press releases and tips
-Promoting CFRC's news offerings through the station's website, blogs, social media and other means
-Liaising with the Groundwire national alternative radio news project to contribute segments and production
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
-Experience or interest with news reporting and journalism
-Experience or interest with digital audio recording, editing and production -Experience with campus and community radio broadcasting and volunteer coordination.
