
The News and Spoken Word Programming Coordinator will act as show producer for Kootenay Co-op Radio’s community affairs program, Kootenay Morning. They will also work to improve the spoken word and technical skills of Kootenay Co-op Radio’s volunteer programmers, create programmer resources, and assist with other programming and station operations as required.
This position is funded by the Community Radio Fund of Canada
The ideal candidate will be media-literate, motivated, creative and efficient, with great problem solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to give and accept feedback, and excellent time-management skills. Ideally they will also have the following abilities/experience:
– An appreciation of nonprofit media/community radio
– The ability to critically assess potential news stories and interviews
– Journalism training/experience
– Experience with Sound Forge and Audacity audio editing software
– The ability to work with and lead a team
– Experience with volunteer recruitment, coordination, training, and mentoring
– Familiarity with social media platforms such as Wordpress, Facebook, Twitter
Candidate must be available to start immediately.
$20/hour
