The National Campus and Community Radio Association/ l’Association nationale des radios étudiantes et communautaires (NCRA/ANREC) is a not-for-profit group committed to volunteer-driven, non-profit, community-oriented radio across Canada.

We help campus and community radio stations get and stay on-air, help amplify underrepresented voices, foster and celebrate compelling local grassroots radio, and connect stations so they can share their best ideas and better serve their communities. We currently represent more than 85 members, from CHMR-FM in St. John’s, NF to CICK-FM in Smithers, BC.
We are seeking a full-time National Advertisings Coordinator. Based in Ottawa, the National Advertising Coordinator will work with and report to the NCRA/ANREC Executive Director. This is a one-year contract with possible renewal, dependent on funding and performance supported by the Community Radio Fund of Canada and the Ottawa Career Focus Program.

Overview:
Each day the National Advertising Coordinator actively looks to develop and implement sales opportunity for our member stations by way of radio advertising or other forms of sponsorship. The objective at the NCRA is to help our members generating more revenue through advertising technologies while supporting the association.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop a system to connect our member stations around national advertising opportunities by quickly responding to offers
• Develop creative and revenue-generating proposals to attract prospective clients
• Find out who controls the advertising budget in target organizations and contacting them
• Find out and connecting to stations who are interested in advertising
• Explain the benefits of advertising, using statistics on listenership or viewing figures
• Offering a price and negotiating around it on behalf of stations
• Closing the deal and recording the details
• Management and development of sales to hit and exceed sales goals on a monthly basis.
• Effectively manage, support and continually update reports and work with sales reps to ensure data quality and the usage of the platform as a toolset.
• Utilize entrepreneurial mindset to explore other ways of advertising or sponsorship based funding
• Connect to other organizations around advertising practices and opportunities
• Review and potentially develop a distribution system for national news stories and public service announcements.
• Create an on-going system which is documented and easily managed over time

Qualifications: 

Qualifications:
• Education in Sales and/or Marketing (Business, Communications etc accepted)
• Skills in community outreach, public education, communications and/or member services
• A working understanding of broadcast regulations is an asset
• Work or volunteer experience at one or more campus or community radio station in Canada is an asset
• Experience with anti-oppression work is an asset
• Proven track record of achieving and exceeding goals
• Highly organized and able to multi-task in an extremely fast paced environment
• Bilingualism in written and spoken French and English is ideal

Partnership:
This position is in partnership with the Community Radio Fund of Canada and the Ottawa Career Focus Program. Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
o Between the ages of 15 and 30 (inclusive)
o A post-secondary graduate, graduated within the past two years from or who lives in Ottawa/Cornwall area
o Out of school
o Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or an individual who has been granted refugee status
o Legally entitled to work in Canada
o Looking for employment in the field from which they have graduated from
o Have no previous paid work experience in the field
o Are not receiving (EI) Employment Insurance benefits

Salary: 

Wage: $17/hour for 35hours/week for the first 30 weeks, $17/hour for 30hours/week for the remaining 22 weeks, 5% commissions on all sales, health benefits + three weeks paid vacation.
