CJSW Radio is looking for a Music Director to handle all the operations of the Music Department at CJSW Radio – University of Calgary Student Radio Society, one of Canada’s most established and respected campus/community radio stations.
The successful candidate for the Music Director position must be a passionate music fan and knowledgeable about a wide range of music. A fair amount of technical proficiency is needed, as is excellent written and oral communication skills. The position requires dedication and a willingness to give it your all. The reward is making a palpable difference in the music community and having fun while doing it.
Duties:
Creating the station’s weekly playlists and charts
Liaising with artists and representatives of record labels
Keeping tabs on current music trends in all genres
Ensuring CRTC regulations are met
Overseeing library related volunteer projects, such as cataloguing and maintenance
Evaluating existing CJSW programs and developing new ones
Working with and assisting local musicians with promotion of their projects
Maintaining an active presence in the music community (locally, nationally and internationally)
An understanding and appreciation of all aspects of campus / community radio and a knowledge of all varieties of non-commercial music
Involvement in the local music community
Proficiency in a Mac environment and a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel), Filemaker and iTunes is essential
Experience being on-air and working with volunteers
Described as an open minded individual, creative thinker and excellent communicator
Progressive attitude, good stress management, multi-tasking and organization skills are a must
A post-secondary education is an asset
