The Fraser Valley Music Awards, in it’s second year, will see CIVL host dozens of live music events (Fraser Valley Music Series) over the course of the next year, in advance of awarding tens of thousands of dollars to winning applicants at the awards show late in 2017. The work study position applied for here will oversee and coordinate both the scheduling/communique in advance of live performances in conjunction with the FVMA’s, Music Series, and the “Envision Financial Concert Series”, for which CIVL and the FVMA’s are an presenting partner this year, as well as administer the technical operation of sound engineering and recordings during these live music performances. This concert series, and the accompanied recordings, will serve to promote the awards and preserve the performances for posterity.
Under direct supervision of CIVL Station Manager, the successful applicant will:
- Communicate with bands, venues, promoters, and volunteers in order to
- Book, advertise, provide sound technician services, and record performances of all FVMA events during the work study period
- Administer social media pages in advance of events for promotion
- Administer social media pages to promote recordings after events have completed
- Clarify and prepare all technical requirements in advance of live events
- Oversee volunteers in support of all FVMA events during this term
Excellent communication skills
Knowledge of basic recording techniques and able to learn various sound/editing equipment/software
Ability to multi-task, problem solve, think critically, and work with a wide variety of diverse people
Experience directing volunteers and other colleagues in supplementary roles
Comfortable receiving and providing constructive feedback to improve results/participant experience
Ability to show un-biased decision making with regards to subjective decisions re talent, style, etc
