Launched in 2008, GroundWire is a bi-weekly national community news
magazine produced by a network of community radio stations. GroundWire
journalists are volunteers who also participate in the governance and
development of the program. Currently, GroundWire airs on more than
thirty campus and community radio stations in Canada. A project of the
National Campus and Community Radio Association (NCRA/ANREC),
GroundWire's priority is to connect diverse communities from
coast-to-coast-to-coast. GroundWire also encourages
self-representation by focusing on content that shares in the ethics
of human rights activism, equity, labour rights, democratic
communication, information exchange and progressive political and
social policy.

GroundWire is currently seeking applications for a Sponsorship
Coordinator. Working in coordination with a sub-committee of the GW
Steering Committee, the Executive Director, and the NCRA Fundraising
Committee, the GroundWire Sponsorship Coordinator’s responsibilities
will include preparation of proposals and sponsorship applications,
and performance of responsible professional and administrative work in
researching, identifying, developing, and responding to appropriate
sponsorship opportunities. Additionally the GroundWire Sponsorship
Coordinator will manage a portfolio of sponsors in the range of
$500-$5,000.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

-GroundWire Sponsorship Coordinator will identify, define, and develop
sponsorship sources;
-GroundWire Sponsorship Coordinator will generate proposals and
supporting documents to solicit and secure sponsors, completing timely
submission of well-researched, well-written and well-documented
sponsorship materials;
-Work with the sub-committee of the GW Steering and Executive Director
to develop narrative and financial content for sponsorship materials;
-Maintain routine and necessary communication with the sub-committee
of the GW Steering Committee, the Executive Director, and the NCRA
Fundraising Committee.
-Attend scheduled trainings and meetings (i.e. monthly GW Steering
meeting and other necessary meetings).

Qualifications: 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

-Some post-secondary education and fundraising, marketing or sales
experience; nonprofit, labour or media organization experience a plus.
-Ability to relate well to potential sponsors and the GroundWire team,
knowledge of the non-profit community sector, and experience in
campus/community radio.
-Must demonstrate strong presentation skills, including an ability to
successfully convey GroundWire's vision and mandate.
-Produce excellent oral and written communication, be proficient in
research, use independent judgment and produce a quality work product
within tight time constraints, and possess the ability to work
collaboratively and independently to achieve stated goals.
