GroundWire News is a collaborative community radio
news program on-air since 2008. This award-winning
29-minute radio show carries headlines, reports,
features and short documentaries from independent and
community radio journalists. Produced biweekly by and
for community radio stations collaborating with a team
of coordinators, GroundWire is a reliable, high-quality
newscast, dedicated to grassroots coverage offering
progressive perspectives on issues that engage local and
national audiences. GroundWire’s priority is to connect
diverse communities from coast-to-coast-to-coast and
encourage self-representation.

With this volunteer position, GroundWire offers an
excellent opportunity to network at a national level
with community media journalists and community
radio stations across Canada. Community radio
journalists have gone on to work in not-for-profit
management, public policy, public relations and
GroundWire alumni have been syndicated in Canadian
forums such as The Dominion Paper, Broken Pencil,
Our Times, Briarpatch, as well as Free Speech Radio
News and Democracy Now.
