The Charts Editor manages the collection and compilation of !earshot charts on a weekly and monthly basis through an automated system on the !earshot website. An important part of the Charts Editor’s responsibility making sure entries are correct, fixing doubles and generally ensuring the charts are timely and accurate. This is a volunteer position with a monthly honorarium.

Responsibilities:

• Correct and edit chart submissions
• Make corrections to artist and CD information based on submitted error reports and the Editor’s own knowledge of new releases.
• Scan new releases to catch and correct double entries.
• Compile and publish weekly charts to web between on Tuesday or Wednesday of each week (charts are currently published on Tuesday evening). Recompile and publish after making corrections if needed. (compiling and publishing are largely an automated process.)
• Add additional information to recordings info such at web address, twitter and cover images as needed.
• Post weekly charts to !earshot Facebook page, Twitter and other social media
• Send out weekly charts using the chart system’s email broadcast tool.
• Compile monthly chart and send to Exclaim by the submission deadline for each issue of Exclaim. Notify other team members of the chart dates
• Recruit stations that are not reporting.

Qualifications:

• Extensive knowledge of current releases available to campus/community radio
• Attention to detail
• Active music director preferred
• Active member at an NCRA member station

The Charts Editor should have a comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of current and new releases and is best suited to someone who is dealing with new releases on a regular basis.

All work can be done via the web.

Approximate weekly commitment: 2 – 4 hours per week.

The Charts Editor receives a monthly honorarium of $100.
