CHSR FM, the Community-Based Campus Radio station in Fredericton is seeking a highly motivated person for the position of Station Manager.
CHSR is a 50 year old non-profit institution located in Fredericton, NB on the UNB/STU campus. We are dedicated to high-quality, volunteer-produced programming of interest to the students and communities of the Fredericton area. Part of our mandate is to provide access to the airwaves for a wide variety of people.
The Station Manager is responsible for the supervision, planning, organization, direction and management of CHSR FM. They manage the radio station in accordance with Industry Canada, the CRTC, generally-accepted accounting principles and station policy.
Strong organizational skills are necessary to handle deadlines in numerous ongoing projects. Supervisory skills, both in the area of volunteer and paid staff, are also needed. As well, the Station Manager is expected to exercise self-direction as part of a managerial team.
Qualified candidates will have experience in community radio. The candidate should also have demonstrated leadership capabilities by the progressive, successful undertaking of positions of responsibility, within community radio or within equivalent volunteer organizations. An undergraduate university or its equivalent degree is preferred but not requirement. The primary consideration must be a demonstrated ability to manage a small business, including bookkeeping (e.g. QuickBooks), supervision, dependability and diplomacy, as well as the ability to write clear and concise documents. Fundraising experience are a definite asset.
