CHMA, owned by the nonprofit company Attic Broadcasting, is a campus/community radio station located on the campus of Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick. With over 2000 (mostly student) members, it has celebrated alternative and independent media since 1974. CHMA is seeking a Station Manager to handle all of its business operations and provide leadership and support for over 60 staff members and programmers.

We seek a Manager who has thorough knowledge of and experience with all aspects of noncommercial radio (music, spoken-word, podcasting), and alternative and independent news reporting that adheres to the regulations set out by the CTRC and the principles of the NCRA.

The Station Manager mentors, collaborates with and leads staff and volunteers, helping them to develop
projects and activities that support CHMA’s mandate. We expect the Manager to maintain and build on existing relationships with our various partners including Mount Allison University, the Town of Sackville, local businesses, and other non-profit organizations.

While the Station Manager should be strongly self-motivated, they collaborate with the Programming Director. The Station Manager (with the Programming Director) reports monthly to the Board of Directors and works closely with the President, Treasurer and Secretary to maintain a viable and healthy organization.

Qualifications: 

Qualifications for the position include the following: experience with nonprofit organizations, audio broadcasting standards, fundraising (including raising donations and writing grants); knowledge of financial/tariff audits, budgeting, payroll and tax reporting. Applicants should demonstrate their ability to manage human resources and to build teams, and they should be familiar with an advanced Mac OS environment, audio/radio production, equipment maintenance, and social media/website platforms and campaigns. The successful applicant will possess strong English communication skills, and be experienced in coordinating volunteers and managing an office. Finally, experience working with a board of directors, and a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent are also assets.

Salary: 

Salary will be between $30,000 and $32,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Health and dental insurance will be provided as well as three weeks paid vacation.

Terms: 
This position requires a 30 hour work week with regular office hours and some evenings and weekends.
