CBC Music is a multi-platform producer of music content. We operate a national radio network, capture and distribute music performances, publish web-based journalism, are content partners with The Junos and The Polaris Prize, make streaming playlists, produce digital features, and run special events like Searchlight and Canadian Music Class Challenge. We value deepening the music appreciation of our audiences, and turning them on to emerging Canadian artists before anyone else. CBC Music is looking for a creative digital content creator who lives and breathes social media and wants to be on the cutting edge of social tools, trends, and best practices. You love a wide range of music and enjoy engaging with the music community, and want to merge those loves with social media. You have a deep knowledge of music of Black origin, including Canadian R&B, hip hop, pop, and soul. The Social Associate Producer will be joining the highly collaborative Social Team and will be responsible for writing, editing and packaging timely, engaging and shareable written and graphic social content on a daily basis. Job Responsibilities: With direction from both the Senior Producer and Social Producer, you will participate in the ideation, development, organization and execution of social content across CBC Music social properties. We’re looking for someone who is interested in the latest music news, who is plugged in to new releases, and is interested in developing ways to communicate and engage with different music audiences. That means staying in tune with social and cultural dialogues and committing to treating individuals and communities fairly through the content we produce and the way we produce it. We’re also looking for a solid writer and communicator who speaks the language of social and can independently keep on top of multiple, often competing rollout schedules and creative tasks. Social media is an exciting and changing field, and we want you to bring your creativity, critical thinking, and resourcefulness to this role to help keep CBC Music on the cutting edge of social trends. Key tasks: Packages and posts social content in a creative way on multiple platforms. Pitches and creates original social media content, at times collaborating directly with musicians via interviews or video gathering. Plans, populates and maintains social content calendars. Proactively engages with audiences on social channels and responds to audience inquiries and complaints when warranted. Adheres to best practices for maximizing shareability of content. Collaborates on social media strategies with content and social partners. Evaluates content performance and makes adjustments based on metrics. Flags relevant and emerging stories to appropriate producers. Ensures proper copyright clearance of material used on social media. Identifies, develops and maintains social contacts to further amplify content. Covers large-scale live music events like the Juno Awards and CBC Music Festival in real-time.Work at CBC/Radio-Canada

Your role
Two years professional social media or social media marketing experience.
Creative and passionate idea generator — you’re always coming up with new things to try.
Organized and detail-oriented.
Strong, adaptable writer with excellent copy-editing skills.
Strong Photoshop or Canva skills.
Music fan with deep knowledge of hip hop, R&B, and other music of Black origin.
Demonstrated knowledge and use of social media platforms including Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat and Facebook.
Understanding of social media stats and using them to inform decisions.
Flexibility to adapt to changing work patterns, processes and methods.
Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and keep to tight deadlines.
Independent and self-motivated.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
An excellent communicator.
Comfortable working at live events and producing content with artists.
An understanding of the CBC, including the relationships, would be an asset.
