LAST WEEK TO APPLY: 2012 Community Radio Awards!

The NCRA Board and staff are thrilled to announce the 2012 NCRA/ANREC Community Radio Awards! Deadline for nominations is TUESDAY, MAY 15 at midnight, PT.

Since 1993 the Awards have honoured the amazing programming, people and activities our sector has to offer and reflected the range and diversity of community radio across Canada, including categories for creative production, documentaries, special programming and Aboriginal affairs and culture.

Every year we've been getting more entries than the last and this year is no different: we want PILES of amazing applications to make our three panels of jurors work.

Last year's winners included "Sound Ideas" a music show that compared Dvorak's "New World Symphony" to the Black-eyed Peas' "My Humps"; Special Events programming for the "Joe Strummer Day to Confront Poverty in Windsor-Detroit"; a documentary on the roots and influence of Aboriginal music on the East Coast; a syndicated daily series on Canadian history; an interview, in Farsi, with a rape victim from Evin Prison; and so much more.

Winners will receive national recognition at the NCRC Awards Gala at the National Campus and Community Radio Conference this June in Kingston, ON and on the NCRA/ANREC website. Unless otherwise indicated, all applications and programming may be submitted in English or French.

Full submission details can be found at www.ncra.ca/awards.
